Allison Eldredge at GBS, December 16!
Join friends old and new as we toast the start of our 72nd season, with a Russian-themed reception in the Upper Lobby of The Klein on September 16, just before our first concert, 6 to 7 PM+. Meet Eric Jacobsen, and enjoy signature Russian cocktails by Asylum Distilleries of Bridgeport, complimented heavy hors-d'oeuvres with a Russian flavor. Kick off this season's rich variety of music with a hearty NA ZDOROVJE, "To your heart's content!" as the Russians have said for centuries.
December 16: special guest star
joins GBS at our December 16 concert, showcasing two child prodigies: Hudson Ragins, age 10, on piano and Zoe Lonsinger, age 11, on violin, as they lead the orchestra into Waltz of the Flowers.
Ms. Eldredge is a world-renowned cellist, a perennial favorite at GBS since her debut under Gustav Meier in 1986. At the December concert, she will have the chance to display another facet of her formidable talent -- this time as a teacher and mentor. Young Talent Chamber Musicians, which Ms. Eldredge co-founded with her mother, pianist Yoshie Akimoto, nurtures young talented musicians, and GBS is proud and thrilled to welcome Hudson and Zoe to our stage.
From April 2017:
What a party! GBS celebrated its
70th anniversary gala
at the fabulous
the Blue moon ball
GBS turned 70 years young on October 11 this year. We celebrated with a grand party at the Brooklawn Country Club in Fairfield on April 29, with almost 100 guests attending. Music for the cocktail hour was provided through Music for Youth -- a woodwind trio that included the three winners of our 2017 Young Instrumentalists' Competition. It was an elegant black-tie evening sure to be remembered on anniversaries yet to come.
